This is the first year that the Herb Guild participated in decorating a Christmas tree for the Cleveland Botanical Garden show, “GLOW”. The theme of holidays and yearly celebrations were to be depicted in your decorations. We had New Year’s Eve and chose a theme of clocks and time passing with a play on words in using the herb, Thyme as well. The original theme was developed by Shirley Swindell, The Herb Guild CBG representative and her committee. Pictured here is some of the committee members that decorated the tree for this event.

Personal photos of clocks were taken and printed, then glued to wooden clock ornaments. Large clocks were printed out to show midnight quickly approaching. Noise makers were sprayed silver and featured the countdown 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. Happy New Year! Banners strung on the tree proclaimed “Happy New Year’ and chalk ribbon was painted to display our theme, “Time and Thyme Again” which is also the title of our last cookbook published.
Miniature thyme wreathes trimmed in long silver ribbons and silver wands were adorned with thyme too. Gold and Silver balls filled in as well as various shaped silver spirals. The treetop was a clock at midnight and a tophat a bit tipsy was offset to the left.
